Small wind is a significant capital cost for a customer. The cost per annual unit kWh of energy is typically $4/kWh- 6$/kWh. Typical paybacks of 8-12+ years dissuades many. For small wind to really take off, it is critical to reduce the $/kWh.
Our wind turbine provides a means to produce more than twice the energy of an open bladed wind turbine of the same rotor diameter. Our first milestone was accomplished with our recent experimental data. This translates into a lower cost per kWh to the customer and a reduced payback period of over half the time.
